Forces of Nature
I don’t want love in
Droplets
Or little ripples
Lapping at my ankles
I want a tidal wave
I don’t want embers
Ashes or coals
Just enough
To ward off a chill
I want a bonfire
I don’t want pastels
Muted pinks
Dulled by too much
White
I want a screaming scarlet sunset
I don’t want halfway
Some or
Now and then
Qualifiers like
If, when, or but
I want
Completely
Absolutely and purely
I can’t live without you
I want
With all my heart
Don’t ever leave me
There could be no other
Raging, torrential,
Exquisite
Sharp, unrelenting,
Branding
I don’t see how you can
Call it
Love
Any other way

Totally so understand, do not want love by half measure. Great poem. Really liked line of a ‘love’ just a lap at the ankles. I want that tsunami. Thanks for post.

You took the words right out of my mouth.
Absolutely beautiful.

I liked this. Thanks. You have very accurately and beautifully pin-pointed what so many of us want… and, it seems, only a few lucky ones actually have…

Yes indeed…

……..YES! I love it when someone (you) expresses something in a way I never could. I don’t want qualifiers!!

If I only had a quarter for all the qualifiers I’ve heard over the years!

Ha!
You got what you wanted….
Now what?
Do you want for dinner?
